Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek # 2

Hi and welcome! I have another Holiday catalog sneak peek for you.  This time, we move on to Fall and Thanksgiving.  I love this time of year; the colors change, the weather gets cooler and the change in seasons is always nice and refreshing. Even here in Arizona, we welcome that change because our weather gets cooler, but you can still go outside without a jacket during the day. This is a good thing.
My first card uses the new Basket of Wishes stamp set and the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Mint Macaron is my card base with a Very Vanilla panel for the main image.  I colored the pumpkins and gourds with a blender pen and various inks.  A piece of the new 3/8" Ribbon Pack in Rich Razzleberry peeks from behind the main layer.
The second card has a Cajun Craze card base with another piece of the Petals & Paisleys DSP. I also used the Vintage Leaves stamp set, along with the Leaflets framelits from the annual catalog.  A piece of linen thread completes the look.  Behind the main layer is a piece of our Gold Satin ribbon.
I hope you enjoyed my sneak peeks today. Until next time, happy stamping!

Holiday Catalog Sneak Peeks

Oh my! I don't know how they do it.   I say this every time a new catalog comes out. The Holiday catalog is no exception.  I haven't had a lot of time to play with my new goodies, but I did manage a couple of cards. Let's start with the first Fall "holiday". Halloween, one of my favorites. Must be all those delicious colors.
The first card has a minimal amount of stamping. I love to sponge, and when I first saw this great bundle, this card was in my head.  I love when that happens.  Quick, easy and a fun card to make.
Supplies used: Basic Gray card stock; Halloween Night Specialty DSP; Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper; Bundle: Spooky Fun Stamp Set and Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies

The second card had just a tad bit more stamping but uses most of the same supplies as above. The border around the DSP is our Silver Foil Paper.
Tomorrow, I'll show you some sneak peaks of some Fall/Thanksgiving cards. We will make those at my stamp camp next month.
If you want to have your very own copy of the new Holiday catalog, contact me today.  If you live close by, I would love to have you attend one of my workshops.  Have a great day!

Thoughtful Branches # 2

Hi!  As a follow up to my post the other day, I promised to tell  you how I fixed my icky card. You know, the one I made that didn't turn out so well? Here's the one I did at first. The mojo wasn't working very well. I stamped the leaves in 2 colors, added way too many apples and all in the wrong places. I even put some "weeds" (that's what they look like) at the bottom of the tree.
And here's my rescue card.  It's a good thing this bundle has framelits.  I cut out the leaves in 2 different greens, and offset them so you get the effect of different colored leaves. I then stamped some apples and a bird. Cut them out with the framelits and was able to hide most of those apples in the tree. The bird at the top, hides that apple that was strategically placed there by mistake.
The moral of this story?  Never fear any of your "boo boos". There's always a way to fix it.  Creativity is about "going for it", no matter if you think it works or not. Eventually, it will.
Have a great day!  Later next week, I will post some cards I made with the new goodies I got form the Holiday catalog.  YAY!

Thoughtful Branches

Hi!  Did you hear?  There's a new "bundle" now available from Stampin' Up!  Take a peek at the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and the Beautiful Branches matching Thinlits Dies. There are so many cards out on Pinterest and blog land, and the ideas that people have come up with are just so versatile. It amazes me how many things  you can make with this bundle.  Don't feel like stamping? That's not a problem. My first card was made by only using the thinlits, although I did cheat just a bit and stamped the sentiment.  I snipped around the sentiment to give it some interest.  This hydrangea is made by just using the leaves thinlit for the tree.  I cut it out in Wisteria Wonder as well as Elegant Eggplant.  Just by offsetting it just a tad, you get the depth you need for a hydrangea flower.  Here's my card:
My second card is really not very good at all, in my opinion. I thought since I didn't stamp the first card, I would do nothing but stamp this one.  My efforts at having apples in the tree, and some that have fallen on the ground, didn't work out so well.  But, have no fear. There is always a way to fix mistakes.  My next post will show you how I fixed this disaster.
This new bundle is available "while supplies last", so hurry if you want to make sure you can get it. Click on my online store to place your order.  Stay tuned next post for an update to this card, as well as a sneak peek at the NEW Holiday catalog.  Yes, it's almost here! In the meantime, thank you for stopping by today and make it a great day! Happy Stamping!
