Happy Birthday, Mike!

Hello and welcome!  My brother Mike still lives in the Chicago area, where I'm from.  He had a special birthday Monday and I thought I would share the card I made for him here.

The card base is Basic Gray with a layered frame of Early Espresso.  I love sponging and making the sand, lake and mountains is so much fun.  Just use a post it note as your mask and sponge away.  Layering colors of Lost Lagoon and a little bit of Island Indigo for the lake and mountains, and you've got yourself a beautiful, serene lake scene.  Clouds are easily made punching a post it note with a scallop punch and sponging around it in various colors. I used Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango first, then laid down the scallop post it note, then sponged Soft Sky around it.  I think this gives the clouds the sun setting (or rising) look. A few marks of the white gel pen, give the lake the ripples it needs. The image in front is stamped in Memento Black ink and I used the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.

I hope you like my card today.  Please feel free to leave me a comment.  I love reading them and look forward to your opinion.

If you don't already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, please contact me and I would be happy to send you a brand new catalog. Just click on the link for my online store, in the upper right corner of this blog.  Stamping is so much fun!  I hope you have a great week.

A Fresh Perspective

Hello and thanks for stopping by!  I have just a small amount of time to sneak into my craft room to play with some of the new goodies in the new catalog.  Today, I wanted to share a couple of cards I made using the new 2015-2017 In Colors and a 2 new stamp sets called Sprinkles of Life and You've Got This.  The Sprinkles of Life set is the new Ronald McDonald set and Stampin' Up! donates $ 3 for every set sold, to the Ronald McDonald House. To date, they have donated over $ 1 MILLION to this beautiful charity.

The card base is Watermelon Wonder and a strip of Cucumber Crush as a backdrop for the new Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper pack. The cute ice cream cone is from Sprinkles of Life, and the ice cream was punched out with our new Build a Tree punch.  These punches are so versatile, you can make clouds, ice cream, frosting on a cupcake (also in the set), and see the drips of ice cream?  Those are also on that punch.  I sprinkled the ice cream with little stars cut from our Star border punch, and added a bit of Dazzling Diamonds so that the ice cream looked more realistic.

This card was made using the You've Got This stamp set. What a gorgeous set this is! The flower was stamped with Versamark on vellum, and embossed with black embossing powder. I colored the flower on the back side with the new Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush  markers.  A little sponging on the sentiment, cropped out with the oval punch.  Also new is our Dotted Lace Ribbon, here in Cucumber Crush.  This ribbon is a DREAM to work with.  It's stretchy and ties so beautifully and without a lot of fuss.  I made a small bow by hand and tucked it under the sentiment for contrast.

I hope you like my cards today.  I can't wait to get more of my new products and play.  If you want to join me for my monthly stamp camps, contact me.  I have one every month, and we always work with current items in the catalogs.  If you do not have a demonstrator, I'd love to hear from you and would be happy to send you a catalog. Until next time, happy stamping!

Lemons & Scallops

Sounds like a good dinner...but it's not.  It's another look at some of the retiring and not retiring products.  I made these cards some time ago, but never got them posted.  The lemon card was made using Love Life, a stamp set from the Occasions catalog, that is retiring June 2.  On Pistachio Pudding card stock, also retiring. I used Blendabilities to color the lemons, but sadly, those are no longer available.  Constant manufacturing defects that Stampin' Up! could not allow, made them have to pull the Blendabilities from their shelves.  That's what I love about Stampin' Up! If a product doesn't meet their quality guidelines, they would rather not sell it, than have issues for our customers and demonstrators. Way to go, Stampin' Up!
The card below was made using Coastal Cabana card stock and Birthday Basics designer paper, both retiring.  The Scallop Framelit will be carried over to the new catalog.  It's a good thing too, since I haven't used it but once.  A little Wink of Stella pen was used to give the black areas some sparkle.

That's it for today.  I hope you enjoyed seeing my cards today.  If you do not already have a demonstrator and would like a catalog, please email me.  I will get one in the mail to you right away.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!
