The Card That Saved The Day

Hi friends!
Today I wanted to share the card that helped me turn an ugly ducking into the swan. On my previous post I shared with you the story about how a negative space from the note tag punch, landed on top of a really terrible try at a no layer card.  Well, this is the card I made.
The note tag punched sentiment was cut from naturals card stock for this card.  I punched two more tags in Blackberry Bliss and adhered them together, to make the frame for the sentiment.  A card base of Blushing Bride with two panels of Blackberry Bliss, as well as two strips of the gorgeous Painted Blooms designer series paper, complete the project. To achieve the matching florals, I cut one larger piece to fit as if it were a single layer, the cut it down the middle.  I trimmed the outer edges down so that the Blackberry Bliss layer peeked through.  This ensured that I didn't lose the matching floral design in the center.
I hope you enjoyed my project today.  If you do not have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, please let me know and I can make sure you get our new Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs.  This gorgeous designer paper has a matching stamp set and is only going to be offered until March 31st.  You don't want to miss out on this wonderful Occasions catalog and Sale-a-bration promotion!  Contact me for details.  Have a great day!  :-)

An Ugly Duckling.....Turns Into a Swan...

Hello friends,
Did you ever see a vision in your head, start to create it and it turns our terrible?  That's what happened with today's card.  When I saw the Painted Petals stamp set in the Occasions catalog, I had a vision of making a single layer card, with nothing but blooms, stems and leaves.  I started with Hello Honey, added Daffodil Delight and a touch of Pink Pirouette.  Here's the disaster that I created:
I mean, can it get any uglier?  This is a classic example of more is WAY too much!  :-)  So into the scrap pile it went.  I went on to make another card and went in a completely different direction. (I'll show you that card later this week). When I was making the other card, I used the Note Tag punch and left the negative piece laying on my craft table.  It happened to "land" on top of this ugly duckling and it caught my eye. I immediately thought "it's not so ugly when you don't see so much of it", since it was peeking out of the little window created by the punch. I played around with the little window and decided it needed another one in the upper left corner. This is the result:
Ahhhh... MUCH better!  And since I hardly throw anything away (I find uses for all types of scraps) the punched out piece became my sentiment layer.  Some Pear Pizzaz Taffeta ribbon and two tiny butterflies, cut from scraps of the Painted Blooms paper, and my ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan.  Moral of the story:  Don't throw out your scraps.  Keep them close by and you may find that a project gets new life.
Thanks for stopping by today.  I love your comments, so please let me know what you think.  Do you have any ideas for your scraps?  I'd love to hear about it.  Have a great day.

Cruisin' Along!

Hi and welcome!  I hope you are having a great day.  I wanted to show you a card I made for a friend.  She and her husband went on a cruise last week and I wanted to play with some of my new goodies from the Occasions catalog.  Today's card features a new paper pack called Adventure Bound.  There are so many wonderful designs in this paper; plaids, pebbles, water, a forest photo, greenery, wood grain...to name just a few.  You get 48 sheets of paper, double sided, 4-1/2 X 6-1/2 size, so they're perfect to add a layer to your card or scrap book page.  Here's  my card:
The coordinating colors that go with this paper are Basic Gray (my card base color), Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Island Indigo (my ink color), Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand and Whisper White. I used two papers from this paper pack - the stones and the water.  My idea was to use those as sort of a pebble beach.  Using the Peace, Love & Cupcakes stamp, and stamping on basic gray, can you see what I used to make the labels for the wording?  It's the NEW Bow Builder Punch. I love it when I can think of other ways to use a punch, other than what it was intended for.  Here's the inside of my card:
A cruise ship and a suitcase from The Traveler stamp set, found in the annual catalog.  I thought it was perfect.  A nice note inside to wish them a fun time on their cruise, and my card was complete.
What do you think?  I'd love to read your comments.  It's nice to share my love of this craft with you. If you don't already have a demonstrator, let me know and I will mail your catalogs out to you.  Remember, from now through March 31...spend $ 50 and pick out a FREE item from our Sale-a-bration catalog.  Or if you are local in Arizona, email me today to host your own workshop and get a LOT of items FREE!
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend.

Butterfly Card

Hello friends and welcome to my blog today.  I hope you are having a great day, enjoying whatever it is you love. Today's card is one I made using the new Butterflies framelits in the Occasions catalog. I don't think a sentiment is needed, as this gorgeous butterfly stands out, all on its own.
I used our Glossy White card base, and sponged Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Crisp Cantaloupe and just a dash of Tangerine Tango on the card base.  I cut out the large butterfly in black, and the smaller one in Tangerine Tango. The two smaller ones are stamped onto Daffodil Delight card stock, with Basic Gray and Tangerine Tango, then cut out with the smallest of the 3 framelits in the set. My Big Shot sandwich included a piece of wax paper, and I even used that, to give the illusion of this creature spreading her wings.  Her body and antennae are made up of our rhinestones.
I am loving the new Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs.  If you haven't received your copy yet and you do not currently have a SU demonstrator, please let me know and I'll get them out to you immediately.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  :-)
