What To Do With The Antlers?

Hello and welcome!  I know, you're probably thinking "what kind of a title is that for a post on my blog"? Well, there is a story to it.  As you know I attended the Stampin' Up! convention last month. One of the new stamp sets in the Holiday catalog is called Wonderland.  It's a beautiful 6 piece set...that is...until you get to the antlers.  Yes, there is a set of antlers, not attached to any deer, that are all alone, in the middle of the case front.  In fact, this is so funny because a demonstrator on stage, made a joke about "what do to with these"? She had stamped them on top of a snowman, and other funny images.  Well, I love a challenge, so here's what I made.

I sat in my room, staring at these as they were perched on top of my clear block.  After a few minutes, I saw "the eyes of a pumpkin", so that's what I did. The pumpkin is made from the Paper Pumpkin Business builder set we were able to purchase at convention. The leaves and back ground are from the Project Life Calendar Kit stamp set. A quick squiggle of my fine point black marker, made the mouth.

I then thought I could use these antlers as a border on a card.  Out they came again, using Real Red and Garden Green ink.  I stamped the antlers off the edge of the card stock, so they looked less like antlers.  I then used the pine cone stamp from the same set, as well as the Christmas Wishes sentiment and the bells, from the Cozy Christmas set.  All in the new Holiday catalog, available September 1st.

I will continue my quest to find more ways to use these lonely antlers. Unless of course, Stampin' Up! has an image all set for us, to go with them, someplace in the warehouse.  :-)

  1. Oh my gosh!! What to do with those antlers!!??? Well Bobbi, you let your imagination work for you here, this two cards are great, specially the one with the pumpkin. The other card looks fabulous with the antlers as branches?
Well, keep at it, I'm sure you will find other uses for this image.
    Hugs,
    Maria.

    1. Thanks, Maria! Yes, it was a bit of a challenge, and I had not thought about the antlers as branches, but that's a great idea! I think I'll see what I can come up with. I love this entire set, but was worried those antlers would never get used. I always did like a challenge. :-) Hugs!
